AIRPORT

Dolpo lies in western part of Nepal and grew in prominence thanks to Peter Matthiessen’s book 'The Snow Leopard,’. The region opened up to trekkers in 1989 but over the years due to its remoteness only few trekkers visit this region annually. The regions most alluring attraction is the Phoksundo Lake which is sacred to Buddhists followers of the Bonpo religion who inhabit the Dolpo region. The trek moves along forest sections and traditional Tibetan villages requiring teams to camp as there are no lodges on this trail. The grand finale is arrival at Phoksundo Lake.
